Legacy Hardware Support for Zoom Rooms Ends February 2025: Is Your Business Ready?

Starting February 2025, legacy hardware running older versions of the Android operating system will no longer support the Zoom Rooms Android Controller. This critical update affects popular devices such as Crestron touch panels, Poly Trio systems, and Yealink devices, leaving businesses with a choice: upgrade or replace outdated hardware to maintain seamless operations.

Don’t risk walking into a conference room that won’t work. Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead.

What’s Happening?

Zoom will discontinue support for Zoom Rooms Android Controllers running on older hardware beginning February 2025.

This change will impact several popular systems, including:

  • Crestron touch panels (TSS-7, TSS-10, Mercury/Mercury X, TSW/TSS-xx60).
  • Poly Trio 8500/8800 and Yealink CP960 devices.

Who Will Be Affected?

Crestron Devices

  • Models impacted: TSS-7, TSS-10, Mercury/Mercury X, and TSW/TSS-xx60 touch panels used for scheduling panels or controllers.

Solutions: Some systems require complete replacement. Others can convert to Windows-attached Zoom Room Controllers (WinZRC) with additional equipment like EDID adapters.

Poly Trio and Yealink Devices

  • Models impacted: Poly Trio 8500/8800 and Yealink CP960 used as Zoom Room Controllers.

Solutions: Replace or upgrade hardware to ensure continued functionality.

Steps to Protect Your Business from Disruption

Replace Unsupported Devices: Identify and replace any hardware that cannot be updated to meet the new requirements.

Upgrade Firmware: Certain Crestron Flex systems using Mercury/Mercury X or TSW panels can be upgraded to Windows-attached controllers. Note that functionality changes and additional adapters may apply.
