DGI Communications brought industry-leading conference Zoomtopia’s energy, education and worthwhile connections to their Massachusetts offices for the Power of Zoom event on December 4, 2019. DGI turned its recently expanded facilities into an exhibit hall, demonstration gallery and presentation room for more than 200 attendees who witnessed the future capabilities of Zoom’s video conferencing platform. DGI client Anthony Eaton from Addgene said it was “one of the most impressive facilities I’ve been in.”
Virtual reality (VR) was a particular focus of the event, specifically the ability to design a conference room in minutes with DGI’s new VR design tool. Juan Chavez, a DGI partner with DTEN shared, “I’ve been hearing about VR; that was my highlight … DGI is changing the way AV works. I could build a room in 10-15 minutes. That’s more time for me to be productive.” DGI’s VR tool allowed attendees to add, remove and adjust equipment, furniture and acoustical treatments with the click of a button and have immediate design feedback, leading to greater comfort with the final design.
In addition to the immersive VR experience, DGI set up 20 real-world Zoom Room designs on-site so attendees could experience new hardware from partners such as Crestron, DTEN and Aver. There were 21 Zoom/DGI partners in the room so attendees could connect to multiple hardware partners and their solutions. With DGI handling the integration, project management and support, every conference room can be a Zoom Room in 2020.
In addition to the hands-on experiences, attendees enjoyed panel discussions and presentations that covered future developments within the unified communications sector. As more capabilities move to the cloud, companies can now offer greater platform flexibility and increased capabilities, and DGI is prepared to guide clients through every step of the process.
